Tricks:

THE LANCASTER BOOK SHOW WAS AMAZING!

MORE BOOK SHOWS TO COME.
This year, my 5th year of publishing, I decided to finally put myself out there and attend reader shows. After three showings (St. Louis, and two local Pittsburgh/PA events) with one more coming (Milwaukee), I've enjoyed every minute of meeting readers in person. I've loved packing up my books for the readers who preordered and came by to meet me at my table.

I also loved seeing more of my readers buying my fall book box, and current series, and making purchases and preorders directly from my Zee store. This has been an amazing change for me this year and I so appreciate everyone who has been supporting my creative author business. So many good things are happening and I'm already looking forward to 2027 because so many good things are coming. Stay tuned for more news from me about the future. In November, I'll share photos from the Milwaukee show. xoxo

Recipe
photo of Kielbasa soup.

I do not recall my mother ever making kielbasa or smoked sausage. Ever. My dad probably had deer sausage around from when we lived in Montana and he hunted. But it wasn't until I moved to PA to be with my husband that I discovered a love for kielbasa and smoked sausage. Especially this time of year.

I absolutely love kielbasa in a scramble with eggs, too. I could eat a meet and egg plate for breakfast, hold the carbs, daily.

But I digress.

Back to the recipe. THIS ONE.It's called: Crockpot Cheesy Potatoes and Kielbasa

This was so easy. And very few ingredients. My intention was to do it in the crockpot, but my bigger one broke recently and I knew it'd make more than my smaller one. Plus I got busy doing author stuff and that sometimes runs into dinner-cooking time, so there I was with a hungry husband and son wondering when dinner was going to b ready. No time for crock pot then. So I whipped this together on the stovetop, and it was ready in half an hour.

I cooked the kielbasa first, after cutting it into small slices. Then I added all the other ingredients. But I substitued with the frozen O'Brien potatoes as the recipe offered that option. I'm not sure I'd use real potatoes again because just the little bit of peppers in the O'Briens added awesome flavor. I also added a second can of soup and a can of half water/half cream because the recipe photo (above, photo from the recipe website) seemed thick and I wanted a little more soupy consistency. Didn't hurt the flavor at all.

This was a hit and the guys loved it, plus there were plenty of leftovers for the next day. I served it with some crackers and melted cheese on top. Yum.

So give this recipe a try and let me know what you think.

Want to trade more recipes? I'm always down for things involving quick family dinners, crockpot recipes, sheet pan recipes, low carb recipes, and cookies/cakes/donuts.

Zee's Cats Photo of the Month

Zee's Cats
Little Miss Cat is being adorable on her back with paw in the air for pets.

Little Miss rarely gets the spotlight because Mister is such the alpha cat. So this month, here she is, being her cute little self, upside down on a chair wanting some pets. Isn't she sweet and fluffy?

Meanwhile, the weather finally turned cool enough to let some fresh fall air inside, which gave the cats the perfect day to bask in the sunshine and have a look outside. The birds hang out in the lavender tree just outside my office/by our front door, so it makes for perfect bird watching. (That's a bike-desk they are on by the way. It rolls and makes the perfect cat perch. Needless to say, they use it more than I do!)

Look Ahead: "BER" month #2 - November

zee Grateful booked sticker features an open book, the Zee Irwin logo, and a wreather of sunflowers, with the words Grateful, Blessed & Books in the center.

Coming in November: Thankful for books month

Next month we lean all the way into grateful season. New picks from me and my author friends, a fresh printable, a recipe worth turning the oven on for, and a few things I'm not spoiling yet.

I'll also have a new release of a 2-volume set of books from one of my series.

See you then and Happy Reading! 🍂
